The Chiron Profilée is powered by a 1,500 PS Bugatti W16 engine and has shorter transmission ratios than the Chiron Sport. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 2.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 380 km/h (236 mph). The car has a front-heavy balance with stiffer springs and camber angles on the wheels for improved grip in bends.

Design

The Profilée showcases its bespoke design, highlighted by a sweeping fixed tail at the rear. This feature serves two essential purposes. Firstly, it enhances stability and control at the Profilée’s top speed of 380 km/h by increasing downforce on the rear axle. Secondly, it utilizes negative pressure to extract hot air from the engine compartment through two internal tunnels in the high-temperature carbon wing. Air flows over the top of the wing to produce downforce and also under the wing to facilitate the removal of air from the engine compartment.

Frank Heyl, the Deputy Design Director at Bugatti Automobiles, the “car spec check” of the Chiron Profilée showcases its sleek fixed tail, designed with the customer’s desires in mind. The aerodynamic and thermodynamic optimization of the tail allows for unparalleled performance, while preserving the classic and timeless look of the original Chiron. The name “Profilée” pays homage to Jean Bugatti’s Type 46, which also featured an elegant flick in the tail.

The Profilée is finished in Argent Atlantique with a lower body in exposed carbon fiber, tinted in Bleu Royal Carbon. The wheels are unique and finished in Le Patron. The interior is made with authentic materials, including a woven leather finish on the dashboard, door panels, and center console. The seats are finished in Gris Rafale and Deep Blue leather, with the quilting pattern, ‘air parade’. The center console features a black anodized frame inlay with the Profilée signature.

This new model has an interior familiar to Chiron owners, which is still handcrafted at Bugatti’s Atelier in Molsheim. Utilizing premium materials such as leather, carbon, and solid aluminum, each component is meticulously crafted through hours of handiwork. The design embodies a minimalist philosophy, streamlining each component to its purest and most elegant form, apparently.

How Many Chiron Profilée’s will be made?

Bugatti had planned to build 30 units, but as the production of its pre-series vehicle started, all 500 Chiron slots were already assigned. The project was cancelled and the car never entered production thus only one example was built and it is fully street-legal in European markets. The Profilée will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on 1 February 2023, with a percentage of the proceeds going to benefit charitable causes. At the time of its sale, it was believed to be the last street-legal W16-powered car Bugatti sold, as the Chiron and the Mistral were already sold-out.
